. i'll see you back in about 12 minutes. >>> ktvu's robert handa joins us now. he's in los gatos. >> reporter: julie, it has been a little unusual to see so much activity here at the cal fire station in los gatos, especially in april, but this year, fire season and fire training are both ahead of schedule. the cal fire attack unit today is training new members on water drops and coordinating hand signals from the ground, weeks ahead of when it usually gets ready for fire season. they decided to speed up hiring and training this year because of dry conditions. >> i think it's a great idea that we're bringing on firefighters early. we're about a month ahead of time. by getting people trained on, we can get them trained and ready to go by the time the fire really start to carry. >> reporter: the santa clara cal fire unit will be adding staff early to stations throughout the bay area, starting in one week. >> we'll be hiring about 40 of our seasonal firefighters. they'll be staffing six engines in the santa clara unit. they'll be staffing up -- the six engines will be going to the si
. the golden gate bridge shows all of the clouds are on the deck. 54 in los gatos with mid-50's towards napa. throughout the morning hours we have plenty of clouds, a few spotty light showers but over all mostly cloudy and unsettled for the weekend in terms of the shower activity. you could see a little pit of it but this morning you notice how much warmer it is, up to five degreeses warmer since the passage of the ban. we are in between systems with a weak flow and it will be a mild afternoon. a little bit of spotty drizzle. we are looking at a couple of systems just the tail end pushing through the bay area over the weekend. throughout the rest of the day we will clear out but by tonight the next system in the north bay for our friends in cloverdale, you could have a light shower. by 9:00, it could be as far south as marin county and a few spotty areas of drizzle along the san mateo coast and through sunday you will notice again, we could see a few showers. we will keep an eye on it with sierra snow in the highest elevations and back home we have a little bit of rain. 51 in yosemite. 54 in

skies, temperatures really coming down. in santa rosa 45, napa 44 and los gatos only 42 right now. so here's what you can expect. also for the winds right now, i just want to show you it's going to get pretty breezy this afternoon. but even already along the coast gusts up to 24 miles an hour in half moon bay. that's where we can see winds even up to 30 miles an hour this afternoon. so cooler compared to yesterday and breezy once again. even blustery conditions near the coast and even a chance of rain. i'll show you that with the forecast model. the pacific satellite image says a setup of high pressure, low pressure and with the type pressure gradients in the afternoon, that will give you the breezy conditions. we also have a cooler air mass moving through the bay area, bringing us temperatures a few degrees cooler compared to yesterday and even dropping some more for tomorrow. the forecast model does show a possibility of some light rain and showers tonight in parts of the north bay. but we are talking very light rain, maybe a few hundreds of an inch. and overnight some drizzle perha
